Step into one of the oldest wine cultures in the world with this immersive tasting of Georgian wines - where winemaking traditions date back over 8,000 years and remain deeply rooted in craftsmanship, terroir, and identity.
Guided by wine expert Beth Kulick of Semele Selects Wine Imports/Consortium, this class explores the unique techniques that define Georgian wine, including fermentation and aging in qvevri - large clay vessels buried underground. This ancient method produces wines of remarkable texture, structure, and complexity, especially among Georgia’s distinctive amber (skin-contact) whites.
We’ll taste a curated lineup from Teliani and Glekhuri, featuring two expressive reds and four whites, including several traditionally macerated wines. Guests will experience a range of indigenous grape varieties and styles - from bright, mineral-driven whites to deeply structured amber wines and bold, character-driven reds.
Featured Wines:
Glekhuri Kisi Qvevri (2023)
Glekhuri Rkatsiteli Qvevri (2023)
Teliani Vineyards Tsolikouri (2024)
Teliani Vineyards Amber Blend (Rkatsiteli, Kisi, Mtsvane, Khikhvi) (2022)
Teliani Vineyards Saperavi (2024)
Teliani Vineyards Kindzmarauli Saperavi (2024)
Along the way, Beth will share insights into Georgia’s winemaking philosophy, regional diversity, and the resurgence of traditional methods that are now influencing winemakers around the world.
Whether you’re a seasoned wine enthusiast or simply curious, this class offers a compelling look into a wine culture that continues to shape the global conversation.
